THE METHOD

How the calculator works

Revenue is estimated from views per thousand multiplied by your effective RPM. For monthly planning, we use 30 days; yearly planning uses 365 days.

When you select CPM, the calculator converts advertiser spend into a creator-side estimate using your monetized playback rate and YouTube's standard 55% long-form creator share.

REVENUE FORMULADaily views ÷ 1,000 × RPM

What changes your RPM?

  • Audience country and purchasing power
  • Topic, season, and advertiser demand
  • Video length and ad placement
  • YouTube Premium and other revenue
COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

How much does YouTube pay per 1,000 views?+

There is no universal rate. Creator RPM varies with niche, viewer location, season, video length, ad demand, and the mix of monetized views. Your YouTube Studio RPM is the best input.

Should I use RPM or CPM?+

Use RPM whenever possible because it measures creator revenue per 1,000 total views after revenue share. CPM measures advertiser spend per 1,000 monetized ad playbacks and needs additional assumptions.

Does this include sponsorship income?+

No. This calculator estimates platform ad revenue only. Use the Sponsorship Calculator to price brand integrations separately.

Why is my actual revenue different?+

YouTube income changes daily. Viewer geography, ad inventory, seasonality, content suitability, Premium views, and monetized playback rate all affect the final amount.
